Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].

Hebrews 4:11

Do not work so hard that you miss time with God. Rest is important for your spiritual and physical life. The need for rest can not be ignored; it is a law of God. Just like the laws concerning eating, sowing, and reaping, we can not break the principle of rest without paying the price of disobedience.

Paul sent Epaphroditus home saying that he came near death through working for Christ ( see Philippians 2:25-30), but God had mercy on him and spared his life. Find time to be still on a regular basis. It is in moments of rest that you are most likely to hear God speak to you.

Now yaknow I’m not good at this ‘rest’ jazz………despite being disciplined in time for prayer and meditation.
I gave up trying to establish what folks call ‘balance’. I’m a person of excess–and if some is good, more is better. This is why I rely on G-d to take care of that detail.

He puts in front of me what’s needed from me and provides me with opportunities to ‘rest’.
It’s simply a matter of me paying attention–and admittedly, I sometimes do NOT pay attention.
