I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself because Steve has to work tonight. When midnight hits I can only cuddle my Princess. If she is not already asleep. I got to thinking about it and I have nothing to feel sorry for myself about. 2008 has been a great year.

  • We got our own home, when so many people are losing theirs.
  • We have not lost one person in our family.
  • My Dad made it through another year, there was a point where we were not sure if he would make it through 2007.
  • Steve has finally found a good job that he likes. It took a couple of tries, but he is now a happy little camper.
  • We have gotten right with the Lord.
  • We got to see an African American elected president. I may not agree with his politics, but he is still a history making president.
  • Gas prices soared to new heights then dropped like a rock.( Thank You Lord)
  • We have found a church family that is awesome.
  • Steve and I’s relationship is stronger and we are closer than we have ever been.
  • Mom and Dad living here and no major problems.( Thank You Lord)
  • We found our missing niece, who has had 2 boys in her years being away from the family.

Yes we have had our downs, but are highs outweigh those by so much

  • Mom winding up in the hospital 2 times.
  • Being thrown out of our duplex because it was foreclosed on. (That was how we started the new year)(Mind you we were renters!!)
  • Patty ending up in the hospital.
  • Steve being fired twice and quitting 2 other jobs.

Really those are all I can think of. Like I said the good more than out weighs the bad. I hope you all have a wonderful new year and please be safe. May God bless all of you this year. Here’s to a great, safe, happy, healthy, and spiritual 2009!!!

When Steve left for his trip my Dad drove him to work cause we would have been without a vehicle for 3 days and that would have  not been a good thing. Mom and Dad’s truck is on the fritz again. I think it is the ignition this time. When Steve got back in we all piled into the truck (it is a quad cab) and went to pick up Steve. We have a tradition every year of going through Prairie Lights and into Interlochen to look at the Christmas lights. We decide we were going to be in the area so we might as well go and see the lights. My mom and Dad have never been to either one, but Mom has always wanted to go see Interlochen. We also went to a little bar and grill to get something to eat. We had a blast. I have no pictures cause I left my camera at home. It is nice to get out once in a while and do something different. If you live in the Dallas area check out these places they are cool. Interlochen is free there is a lot of traffic but the houses are wonderful. Prairie Lights is $20 a car load. They have a little Christmas village you can get out and walk around, they have rides and the rides are free. It is a neat place to go see.

This cold weather we are experiencing fills me with the Christmas Spirit. There is nothing like sipping on hot chocolate, snuggling by the fireplace, and having the room lit by the lights on the Christmas tree.pict0894

I love the way Christmas lights shine and sparkle. They give the season a magical feel.

Ever since Steve and I had our first Christmas as a married couple we have been saying

Almost Finished Tree

this year will be the year we get a real tree. Every year we end just using the one we have in storage. I am so proud of us after all this will be our 8th Christmas together we finally bought a real tree!!!! I love real trees. Nothing can beat the smell of having a Christmas tree in your living room. I am so happy. When I was growing up my Mom would not even bear to think of using a fake tree. Although we have a very nice fake tree it is just not the same as a real one. I do not care what kind of candles, air freshers, or oil  you use nothing compares to the smell of a real tree.

The first Christmas we were together Steve bought me a teddy bear with the year on its paw. It was his way of making up of our first fight. Well it has become a tradition for him to buy me one of these bears or sometimes even the matching pair every Christmas. I have not received my bear for this

Teddy Bears

Christmas yet. I was not real sure where to put my bears this year. I have been moving them around trying them out in different places. I really liked them on the fireplace hearth, but we decided to use the fireplace so they got thrown on the couch. Then my brilliant husband decided to hang from the ceiling. I thought it was a pretty great idea!

My Mom had this Christmas village when I was growing up and I thought it was the coolest idea! So when I got married and started our traditions I started a Christmas village. I just started it last year really, but the auction we go to on Friday nights had this huge Christmas auction last year and I was able to get a lot of this stuff pretty cheap. Village

Our Thanksgiving dinner at the church went great. We had some awesome food and then we went to the sanctuary to give thanks to God. We went around and told our stories and what we were Thankful for. Some of those stories were just so touching. I used a couple of tissues.

Mom was not feeling very good she decided to stay home cause she was coughing a lot and she did not want to be coughing that much while people were trying to eat. When we got home she was worse. She kept saying that she felt like she was drowning. She could hardly breathe. We took her to the E.R. and they kept her again. Her CHF is acting up again. They did a cat scan on her today and hopefully she will be home tomorrow. If you guys could pray that she will be home before Thanksgiving that would be awesome. Our Pastor went to see her twice today and he gave Dad money for lunch. This man blows me away.

After church yesterday the Pastor told Dad we would be getting a Thanksgiving basket. I was shocked. I am amazed that they want to help with our Thanksgiving dinner. It is a blessing but we had already bought what we needed for Thanksgiving I worry that we took a basket away from a family that really needed it. Yes do not get me wrong money is tight. We are behind on some bills, but we always have money to get food. My sister and I are splitting the cost of Thanksgiving so we helped each other out.  The Lord put our name on his heart so I guess I should just shut my mouth and be grateful that we received this blessing!

Tonight was the last night of our ladies Bible study. I was really sad for two reasons; Mom was not there and we do this study together, and this study has increased my self worth in my eyes. I am sad that we will not be getting together once a week any more. Well at least not until February. We start a new study  February 2. Our Bible studies are by Beth Moore. She is an awesome teacher.

We went to the Joshua Community Thanksgiving Service tonight. This is the 20th year of the event. Each year a different church in Joshua hosts the service, this year was it was at our church. All the different churches attend. It is neat when all different denominations can worship together and get along. It was a very moving service.  Our offering of the evening went to the Cleburne Pregnancy Center.  We talked about as Christians thanksgiving should be something we do daily not just celebrate it once a year. We have so much to be thankful all year long. Our biggest thing we should be grateful for is our salvation. It is a gift and nothing we do can earn. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have salvation. Our Preacher gave us a challenge to make a list of all and he means all of God’s blessing.  I am going to work on mine and when I finish it I will post it for all to see.

I just talked to my Sister, Brother, and Mother in law I guess we are having our Thanksgiving dinner here at the house. Mom does not feel like she will be ready to travel so far after surgery. My Brothers family will not make it becasue they lost his Mother in law recently and want to be with his Father in law. This will be the first Thanksgiving where I will do most of the cooking. It is scary stuff people!!!!!! God Bless you all
